I thought it was great how detailed you were on the educational system in Japan. Considering Japan is not the largest country they are still pretty developed and it is astonishing how the out beat the U.S. Overall i enjoyed reading the success of the country you choose as my country is still developing.

I found it interesting that Japanese schools receive little funding, considering the importance placed on school attendance in this culture. I also like that you addressed the way in which such a high value of education has taken the unexpected turn of making education more of a competition than a beneficial experience. I think people typically brush this aspect of Japanese culture aside, just attributing it to those from this culture as being naturally smarter, but the reality is that the educational competition puts a huge weight on those of Japanese origin. I think it's very sad that 27% of elementary school students reported fatigue in everyday life. This could point to a school system that has an unhealthy emphasis in life, because elementary school shouldn't really be putting much of a strain on students at such a young age. At the same time, the value of education results in an overall positive attitude that we definitely don't find here in the U.S.
